Pettenclub 2.0 is a contemporary tribute to the original Pettenclub, a neighborhood football team that played in the early 20th century on the Siegmund field near Ceresstraat in Breda. This project brings together local history, art, and community stories in a colorful new 'mural'.
Students from Kbs St. Joseph, local residents, and neighborhood ministers collected personal stories from the area. These stories inspired a series of unique cap designs, based on the school’s “Kanjertraining” program, in which different caps symbolize various social behaviors and group dynamics. Nine students created their own painted caps, each connected to themes from the neighborhood such as traditional crafts, urban nature, football, and local culture. The designs were incorporated into a large mural installed behind the football field, bringing the legacy of the Pettenclub back to life in a modern, community-centered form.
