The Arcade is an artist in residency that is held once a year by Flujas Collective. During this week 15 artist from various disciplines work together and experiment for one week. This first edition of The Arcade took place at Abdij Ulingsheide in Tegelen, NL.
Saxifraga S/S 24
Saxifraga is a fictional fashion brand by Bas Steens and Esra Westerburgen. Saxifraga was founded after Bas and Esra realized they had a mutual wish to once work for a designer brand. Bas wants to design a scarf for Hermes and Esra would like to create a performance for Balenciaga.
The Saxifraga Spring Summer collection presents a series of scarves made with prints from discarded materials and garments from recycled clothes, gathered in the residency’s surroundings. Saxifraga is a type of flower that is known for it’s ability to break stones. Of this flower Bas found a card on the first day of the Arcade.
